Seven posts. Six myths. Let's bring it all together.
Over the last few weeks we've covered the most common objections I hear from tradespeople about websites and getting found online. Here's the short version:
- "My Facebook page is my website" — Facebook reaches people who already know you. Your website finds people who don't. You need both.
- "I get enough work through word of mouth" — Word of mouth is brilliant, but referrals Google you before they call. If they find nothing, some of them move on.
- "Websites are too expensive" — Some are. Most aren't. For most tradespeople, a single extra job pays for a whole year of a professional website.
- "Nobody searches for me online" — They do. Every day. The question is whether they're finding you or your competitor.
- "I'll sort it when things quieten down" — The quiet patch rarely arrives on schedule. And when it does, it's too late — you need the website working before the slow spell hits.
The Common Thread
This isn't about having a flashy website. It's about being findable. Being there when someone searches for your trade in your area. Being the name that shows up instead of the name that doesn't.
The businesses that will still be thriving in five years are the ones investing in their online presence now — not when they're desperate, not when work dries up, but while they're busy and building momentum.
What Comes Next
If any of this has got you thinking — whether you've got no website, one that's doing nothing, or you're just curious what your online presence looks like — I'm always happy to have a look and give you an honest opinion.
No jargon. No hard sell. Just a straight conversation about what your business needs and what's actually realistic.
Thanks for following along with this series. There's more coming soon.
